Reimagining Transport in Goma
Goma is a city of over two million people, nestled between Lake Kivu and the Nyiragongo volcano. It's vibrant, resilient, and full of energy. But its transport system hasn't kept pace. Motorcycle taxis — the backbone of urban mobility — operate without structure, safety standards, or fair pricing. Passengers take risks every day. Drivers struggle to earn a dignified living.
Twende was born from a simple belief: Goma deserves better. We're not importing a foreign model — we're building a solution rooted in the realities of our city. We started with motorcycles because that's how Goma moves. Every feature we've built — fixed pricing, driver verification, GPS tracking, mobile money — was designed for the specific challenges of transport in Goma.
But motorcycles are just the beginning. Our roadmap includes expanding to cars, adding package delivery, and eventually serving other cities: Bukavu first, then broader DRC, and ultimately East Africa. Each step will be guided by the same principles: safety, fairness, and dignity.
We're not just building a ride-hailing app. We're laying the groundwork for a transport ecosystem that respects both the people who ride and the people who drive. Goma is where it starts — but the vision is much bigger.
